First mashua seedling of 2022

I sowed almost 900 mashua seeds this year, hoping for 300 seedlings, which would be about three times the biggest batch I have been able to grow before. The first seedling is up after 21 days. I expect that I will see 300 germinations by the end of May if all goes well.

Every once in a while, I get a mashua seedling that has leaves that are not lobed. This typically continues for several sets of leaves and then the plant begins to produce the normal lobed leaves. It’s one of those interesting although inconsequential traits.
